Les Amants by Hilario S. Francia Jr.

Not knowing how

to move,

they posed

like formal

wings in love,

a soft wind

wantonly

welcoming itself

into the company

of the two.

slowly, they

turned:

once, twice

admiring

each other.

the angularity

of one complimenting

the rotundity

of the other;

while cherubs

and saints

outraced each

other

across the room.

did they glory

in the system:

like the tendrils

outside embracing

the laughter of the sun?

a cool shade

came

and took the

vacant nook

in their lives.

now peaceful again

in repose,

they gathered weight

as lateness

tip-toed-on the hour.
