Only a Cigarette sighs

Only a cigarette sighs to a kangaroo’s breathe
inhaled in the old rose sofa upstairs,
exhaled in the manger.

My lips clutched eternally
to the dried and burnt leaves
that fine the covalent bond lost in
my own flesh and blood
I huffed –
both ends turn orange
tobacco turns white
white paper turns black
I puffed –
view blurs
cigarrette sighs
death rapes.
